The Amos Otis Papers
Mr Otis was a native of Barnstable and spent
many years examing records and collecting material to write about the
history of Barnstable. Mr. Otis also compiled biographical sketches of
some of the first families of Barnstable. Our Lewes' amongst them. His
papers were published in 1888 and a copy of them reside in The Library
of Congress in Washington D.C..
Inside the Introduction to Mr Otis' papers is
the reason why people like myself do what we do. I hope you enjoy the
