LEWIS, Mary A (Blackwell)

  General Notes:

Married Walter Blackwell that was born in Illinois and their children w ere born in Illinois. But on the 1900 Federal Census they were living in Garner, Leonard Township, Hancock County. Kent appears as their son. Hi s name on the Census is W. Kent, he was born in 1887. Perhaps the W. sto od for Walter, not sure. The other children were Arthur L., Lillian and Frank S. All older than Kent. Since the Blackwells came from Illinois an d not Hancock County, I would imagine that Iris was related to them some how. On the 1910 Census it looks like Walter and Mary Blackwell were run ning a home for the poor in Garfield Township. There are 30 people livin g in the same house as them with Walter and Mary being the heads of the household. Also on the 1910 Census it says that Walter and Mary had pare nted 5 children with only 3 of them still living. Obviously one of them had died prior to the 1900 Census.
