Aged Resident Of This City Passes
William Van Buskirk, 78, practically a life-long resident of Bowling
Green, passed away Sunday evening at seven o'clock in Center Township. Although
he had been ill for five years, he had only become seriously so recently and
had been bedfast for five weeks. His death was due to his advanced age and a
complication of diseases.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the
home of his daughter Josie Picard, at No. 425 East Wooster Street. Rev. A. S.
Bierly will officiate and burial will be made in Oak Grove Cemetery.
William Van Buskirk was born on the first day of the year, 1852 in Seneca
County to John and Liza Van Buskirk. When a youth he came to Bowling Green with
his parents and had lived here all the rest of his life. When younger he farmed
in and around the city. On October 16, 1874 he was united in marriage with
Martha Beaupry. Six children were born to this union, two daughters and a son
preceeding their father to death. Their mother also died twelve years ago.
Mr Van Buskirk had a wide circle of friends among the older residents of
Bowling Green. He was a good and kind man and was very well liked by all of the
many people who knew him.
He is survived by three children; Mrs Josie Picard and Mrs Luella Fairchild,
both of Bowling Green, and Willie Van Buskirk, of Cleveland; ten grandchildren
and nine great-grandchildren. He also leaves a brother and two sisters, Charles
Van Buskirk and Mrs Lyza Stillwell, both of Toledo, and Mrs Ella Wolf, who
lives in Indiana.
