Married Sarah Revis 22 October 1724 in Barnstable
From the writings of Amos Otis originally published in the 'Barnstable Patriot'
Seth Lewes married Sarah Revis on October 22, 1724. Joseph Doane, Esq., performed the service.
Seth's early residence was at a house built by Israel Hamblin, near a p ond, on Dimmock's Lane, known as Israel's pond- a solitary place surroun ded by forest, and more than a mile from a neighbor*. He probably did no t reside there many years. It is believed that he owned the estate at Co oper's pond, where his son Benjamin afterwards resided. Seth died in 175 1, aged 47.
The births of his children were not found in the town records. The bapt isms of his children were recorded in the church records.

In turning over the leaves of the church records my eyes rested in the following: "1777, June 2, Edward Hawes departed this life aged about 37, suamanus;" a modest manner of recording a suicide. Mr Hawes hung himsel f on a tree standing at the corner of the road that leads to the spot wh ere Seth Lewis' house stood. It long remained as a monument of the act. Mr Hawes sold his valuable estate, bought of the Paine family, to the la te Dr Samuel Savage, and received in payment continental money. It soon after depreciated, Hawes suddenly became poor, and in consequence commit ted suicide.
Seth married Sarah REVIS. (Sarah REVIS was born in 1702.)
